Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK)

 

Preamble:

 

• A new initiative to protect and promote child health which seeks to put together a systematic approach to child health screening and early intervention.

 

Aims & Objectives:

 

• Aims at early detection and management of the ‘4Ds’ (Defects at Birth, Diseases in Children, Deficiency Conditions and Developmental Delays Including Disabilities) prevalent in children.

 

Implementation methods:

 

• aims to cover over 2 crores children of 0-18 years of age
• Biannual Regular health screening of pre-school children up to 6 years of age using Anganwadis. Moreover, children from 6 to 18 years of age studying in Government and Government aided schools also receive regular health check-ups.
• All those children which diagnosed for illnesses receive follow-up referral support and treatment including surgical interventions at tertiary level free of cost under this program.

 

 

Service Providing Health Institutions:

 

• Teams are placed at block level at RH/SDH and DH level under supervision and monitoring of Medical superintendent and RMO (O).

 

Manpower:

 

• Total 1196 teams approved in PIP 2022-23.
• 1110 teams functioning in Maharashtra in rural and corporation areas except for Gr. Mumbai where 55 teams are approved & 31 teams are approved for ashram schools screening in tribal districts.

 

 

Various activities implemented for screening of AWC & School:

 

• Implemented programme in all 34 Districts since 1st April 2013.
• RBSK team provided with designated Vehicle.
• Each team provided with 2 M.O., 1 Pharmacist, 1 ANM, Medicines, Equipments and Developmental Kit.
• All teams working according to the advanced tour micro-plan which made in coordination with Education and ICDS department.

District Early Intervention Centre:

• One of the crucial programs and it is for Intellectual, Psychological and Physical development and treatment of children between 0 to 18 age, referred from Anganwadi and schools.
• At present DEIC’s are established in 34 districts.
