PRADHAN MANTRI MATRU VANDANA YOJANA
Introduction:
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is an ambitious scheme awarded by the Central Government. Department of women & Child development, Govt. India has approved implementation of “Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana” Since 1st January 2017.
Through this scheme, the subsidy is disbursed to the beneficiaries in their own bank account through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) method from state level. Central Govt. According to the letter dated July 14, 2022, the said scheme has been implemented in the country in a new form. Earlier only the first child was getting benefit in the said scheme and now according to the new guidelines the beneficiary after the birth of the second child girl after 1st April 2022 has also been included in this scheme.
Aim :
- In order to improve the health of mothers and children, the health of pregnant women and lactating mothers should be improved by encouraging them to eat healthy.
- To improve the health of new born children and reduce the maternal and child mortality rates.
- The benefit would be to improve the sex ratio at birth, prevent female foeticide and welcome female births.
- To increase the rate of institutional delivery by increasing the utilization rate of health facility by the beneficiaries.
- There should be an increase in birth registration along with the birth of new born babies.
Objectives :
Providing financial assistance to pregnant or lactating mothers so that maternal and child health and nutrition can be managed, and partial compensation for lost employment during pregnancy period. Mothers should use health facilities during delivery,and get enough rest before and after delivery.
The birth of a girl child should be welcomed and a positive environment should be created for girls in the society.
Beneficiaries must belong to at least one of the following groups to get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (must attach a copy of at least one identity proof)
- Women whose net family income is less than Rs.8 lakh per annum.
- Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe women.
- Women with at least 40% and more disabilities (Divyang Jan).
- Women BPL ration card holders.
- Women beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) under Ayushman Bharat.
- Women E-Shram Card holders.
- Beneficiary women farmers under Kisan Samman Nidhi.
- MNREGA Job Card Holder Women.
- Pregnant and Lactating Anganwadi Workers (AWW)/Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs)/ASHAs (ASHAs).
- Women Ration Card Holders under Food Security Act, 2013
The following documents and details must be submitted along with at least one of the above-mentioned documents. 1. Beneficiary Aadhaar Card copy or Aadhaar Enrollment (EID) document along with prescribed documents.2. Fully filled Maternal and Child Protection Card containing the date of last menstrual period, date of registration of pregnancy, records of antenatal check-up.3. Copy of beneficiary’s own bank passbook.4. Copy of birth registration certificate of the child.5. Copy of page containing child’s vaccination record on Mother and Child Protection Card.6. Beneficiary registration number in RCH portal where the pregnancy is registered.7. Beneficiary’s own or family members mobile number.8. Other documents prescribed from time to time.
Benefits admissible under the scheme and distribution –
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, a female beneficiary after fulfilling the prescribed terms, conditions and documents will get Rs. 5000/- (Rs. five thousand only) in two installments and if after the birth the second child is a girl then in one installment of Rs. 6000/- (Rs. Six thousand only) This amount will be credited to their Aadhaar Seeded and DBT enabled Bank Account or Post Bank Account (DBT).

Important Notice – For first child within 570 days from the date of Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and for second live baby girl within 270 days from the date of birth of the girl child, the beneficiary can avail the benefit by fulfilling all the conditions. Forms are not accepted by the computer system after the prescribed deadline.
Last years Performance –
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in the state of Maharashtra, 35,26,265 beneficiaries have been benefited during the period from 2017 to March 2024 and a total amount of Rs.1447,97,29,000/- has been distributed to the back accounts of the beneficiaries.

New PMMVY 2.0 Performance –
When are for a total of 661012 beneficiaries have been registered till 29 October 2024, 477480 of first child, 183532 of whom are for second child girl. As per the suggestion and approval by the GOI on 25 October 2023, after the child verification and approval beneficiaries, distribution of funds has been started by giving their benefit to 8 women in different districts of the state. As many as 282239 beneficiaries have been disbursed the benefit through PFMS system till today (8 November 2024), registered in the new portal 2.0 of Pradhan Manni Matru Vandana Yojana.
